Air Transport Documentation

All documents required for the air transport of dangerous goods: DGD (Shipper's Declaration), NOTOC (Notification to Captain), Air Waybill DG entries and the Acceptance Checklist.

DGD

Shipper's Declaration for Dangerous Goods (DGD)

Mandatory

The shipper's dangerous goods declaration. Standard IATA form with red hatched border. Completed and signed by the shipper.

Exceptions: DGD is not required for Y-quantity (limited quantity) and PI 650 (Category B infectious substances).
NOTOC

NOTOC — Notification to Captain

Mandatory

Notification to the pilot-in-command. Contains the type, quantity and loading position of dangerous goods carried on the aircraft.

AWB

Air Waybill (AWB) — DG Entries

Mandatory

Dangerous goods information on the air waybill. The statement 'Dangerous Goods as per attached Shipper's Declaration' must appear.

ACC

Acceptance Checklist

Mandatory

Checklist that must be completed by airline or ground handling personnel before accepting a dangerous goods shipment.

Recommended

Section 8.3 — Additional Documentation

Documents required in addition to the DGD under specific conditions

8.3.1

Shipment under Special Provision A1 or A2

A copy of the approval document must be attached: quantity limitations, packaging requirements and, for A2, labelling requirements must be specified.

8.3.2

Shipment in portable tanks

If approved by the competent national authority, a copy of the approval document must accompany the shipment.

8.3.3

Shipment in special packaging

If permitted under 5.0.6.7, a copy of the approval document is required.

8.3.4

Organic peroxides and self-reactive substances

If approval is required (5.0.2.3.1 or 5.4.1.2.4.1), a copy of the approval document must be attached to the DGD.

8.3.5

Shipment under exemption

If exempt under 1.2.6, a copy of the exemption document from all relevant states must accompany the consignment.

State / Operator Variations: Additional documents may be required by certain state and operator variations (e.g. AEG-03, CAO-01/011, BHG-00/02, FRG-01 etc.). All state variations along the shipment route and the relevant operator variations must be checked.
